Forum
From MGWiki
From what has been found, there is very little interest, or support, involved in the forum module of moregroupware. Those who have managed to get the forum installed without issues have not posted anything here yet, however, after contacting the author of the forum, hopefully more information will fill this page soon. Please check back often and add what you can.
wastebin: i have succeded finally to get the forum module working (15 july 2008) after changeing line 22 in <moregoupware webpath>\modules\forum\inc\error.class.inc. i changed the word 'catch' in 'string'
I have managed to get the Forum working to some extent and will provide more information on this as I learn more.
It's really a neat little forum and once you understand the procedure for creating all the components its really quite good.
The Hierachcal structure of the Forum (which I find helpful to remind myself) is:
- Category (one to many)
- Forum (many to one)
- Thread - (many)
The following instructions are based on Admin ONLY with permissions to "manage" the Forum access module (Categories, Forums & Moderators). Users are able to post threads only. These rules can be changed through the "Admin/Rights manager".
ADMIN
Once you have installed Forum from Admin > Module Manager (by clicking on the "Install" link) go to Settings > Forum > General Settings (Admin Only). This is where you manage the permissions and general configuration of the Forum module.
Once you are happy with your selections click on the "Save" button.
Now go to Settings > Forum > Settings where you can select how your pages will be displayed ie, number of threads, thread duration etc. You can also place your logo here...
1. From "Modules" select "Forum". 2. From the Forum tab on the main menu select Admin
here you can Add/Delete or Edit your Categories / Forums / Moderators
USERS Disclaimer: The following is put as a suggestion as the writer has only logged in as Admin and not tested the user capabilities OR changed any permissions.
To add a thread: Select Forum > Forum Overview. Click on the Forum Link (listed under the categories). Select Forum > New Thread
Start Typing!
As a complete and utter newbie to this application I hope this may help or at least start the thread.....
