The online documentation is now maintained in a Wiki, to make editing easy for everyone, who wants to help. Start reading...

The old manual was written using DocBook XML, which is not the easiest format to write and maintain. This lead to the situation we have right now: a lot of people in need of good documentation, but almost noone writing it.

To make the process of writing and maintaining the documentation easier for everyone, there now is a Wiki available. You can access it through the link on the left, or go to the Wiki right here. By now all of the old manual content has been moved into the wiki and is already being improved by volunteers like you...

Please help us with the documentation by contributing whatever you can. If you only have limited time available (who has not?), you might want to visit the FAQ and help us maintaining it by answering open questions or submitting FAQ proposals.

• You need to create an account to the Wiki and log in, before you can edit anything. This hopefully helps to prevent spamming.
• Working on a Wiki is a collaborative task! Make use of the discussion feature when needed and think before deleting or changing other people's content.
• If you have never used a Wiki before, or MediaWiki in particular, you might want to read the MediaWiki User's Guide first.
• Information about how to write in another language how to translate content on the Wiki can be found in the Wiki itself.
• Remember that everything you add to the Wiki must be licensed appropriately. So never submit copyrighted work without an appropriate license and/or permission to do so!

The DocBook XML manual sources were automatically converted to HTML once a day. Two versions got generated:

• One HTML file per section (en/de/pt_br)
• One big HTML file (en/de/pt_br)

The HTML documentation as listed above but packed into a single gzipped tar archive for easy download. Available in en/de/pt_br as well.
